Welcome to the governor pages. We hope that these pages will provide a source of useful information and give you an indication of the way in which we as governors support our school.

Every school is required to have a governing body and our job is to work with the staff to make sure that the school is providing the best possible education for our children.  We work as a team with the Head Teacher and our main roles are to help plan the future of the school and to monitor and evaluate the school's progress. 

We come from different parts of the community, but we are all passionately committed to making sure that every single child gets the best out of his or her time at Sun Hill Junior School .  We are a combination of parent governors, staff governors, governors appointed by the Hampshire County Council and governors from our local community here in Alresford.  We all have different skills and backgrounds and we work together to use these to support the school and the children.

In order to allow us to concentrate on key issues, we have three sub-committees specialising in Finance, Curriculum and Standards and Communication.   We hold regular meetings where we discuss the standards of education across the school, the improvements and progress that the school is making and budget and spending plans.
